Do House Cleaners Bring Their Own Supplies?
It depends on the company. Some cleaning services bring everything. Others expect you to supply products and equipment. A few do both. Knowing what to expect before your first appointment saves confusion — and makes sure the job gets done right.
What Polished Living Cleaning Brings
Polished Living Cleaning brings all supplies and equipment to every job. You do not need to provide anything. This includes:
- All cleaning products — multi-surface cleaners, bathroom and kitchen disinfectants, glass cleaner, grout cleaner, and specialty products for deep cleans
- Microfiber cloths and scrubbing pads
- Mop and mop heads
- Vacuum with attachments for floors, upholstery, and baseboards
- Toilet brushes (dedicated per home — never shared between clients)
- Caddy and organizational equipment
Our products are eco-friendly and pet-safe. If anyone in your home has chemical sensitivities or allergies, let us know before your first visit and we can discuss alternatives.
Why It Matters That Cleaners Bring Their Own Supplies
Consistency of Results
Professional cleaners using their own products know exactly how those products perform on different surfaces. They are not guessing whether whatever is under your sink will work on soap scum or grout. Consistent tools produce consistent results.
No Prep Work for You
Part of the value of hiring a professional cleaning service is not having to think about it. If you had to stock a list of specific products before each visit, that adds friction and cost to something that should simplify your life.
Professional-Grade Products
Many of the products professional cleaners use are not available at standard retail stores, or are available in concentrations that make them significantly more effective. The difference between a professional-grade disinfectant and a consumer bottle of bathroom spray is measurable — especially on grout, hard water stains, and soap scum buildup.
What About My Vacuum or Mop?
Some clients prefer that cleaners use the home's own vacuum — particularly if they have a high-end machine, a specific filter system for allergies, or prefer not to have equipment brought in from other homes. This is a reasonable request and one we are happy to accommodate. Just let us know when booking.
Similarly, if you have a specific cleaning product you want used on a particular surface — a wood floor cleaner your installer recommended, for example — we can incorporate that into the visit.
What You Should Do Before the Cleaners Arrive
You do not need to supply anything. But there are a few things that help the visit go smoothly:
- Pick up clutter from floors and surfaces — Cleaners clean; they are not organizers. Clearing countertops and floors means more of the visit is spent actually cleaning rather than working around items.
- Secure pets — Let us know if you have dogs or cats. Most pets adjust fine, but having them in a separate room during the visit makes things easier for everyone.
- Note anything specific — If there is a surface you want us to avoid, a fragile item, or an area you want extra attention on, a quick note at booking or before the visit is all it takes.
- Provide access — Make sure we can get in, whether that means leaving a key, providing a door code, or being home for the first visit.
What About Eco-Friendly and Non-Toxic Products?
All products used by Polished Living Cleaning are selected with households in mind — safe for children, pets, and people with sensitivities. We do not use harsh bleach-based products as a default. If you have a specific concern about a product category or ingredient, ask us when you book and we will be transparent about what we use.
The Bottom Line
With Polished Living Cleaning, you do not need to buy, stock, or prepare anything before your cleaning appointment. Show up (or leave access) and let us handle the rest. That is the point.
